1/3 Of Lower Merion GOP Voters Split Tickets

Lower Merion and Narberth are Bluer than they ever were.

Christian Nascimento, the Republican candidate in the 4th Congressional District (running against Madeleine Dean, who won her third term), “led” Republicans in Lower Merion and Narberth by getting 23.64 of the vote.

Voters in both the township and the borough appear to have followed the rest of Pennsylvania, voting for Josh Shapiro and John Fetterman, but with significantly larger margins for Shapiro than for Fetterman

Lower Merion Narberth 2022 Election Summary

So far, Shapiro leads Doug Mastriano statewide, by about 663,000 votes, whereas Fetterman’s lead is only around 157,000 votes. As of this moment  however, there are close to 184,000 uncounted mail votes. Fetterman and Shapiro have both taken more than 80% of the mail votes, so it appears likely that they both will pad their leads by at least 100,000 votes.

Statewide, there was a drop-off of about 10% from Mehmet Oz’s vote (2,395,892) to Mastriano’s (2,159,091), but in percentage terms, it was not nearly as dramatic as the ticket-splitting in Lower Merion and Narberth.

Shapiro’s margins here were the outlier. The results of all the congressional and state legislative races came within a half of one percent of the Fetterman-Oz race.

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]
