Wolf Vetoes Bill That Would Limit Covid Liability

Penncapital-star.com reported today that, “Tom Wolf has vetoed a bill protecting businesses, schools, medical professionals and nonprofits from some COVID-19 related lawsuits.

The bill passed the Senate 29-20, and the House 104-98 two weeks ago, with some Republicans opposing it as well as Democrats in the lower chamber.

The proposal makes it easier to dismiss lawsuits brought against employers or companies that may have put workers or customers at risk of COVID-19.”

Wolf Veto Message of Covid Liability Bill

Governor Tom Wolf’s Veto Message for HB 1737 that limited businesses from Covid-19 liability.

According to Pennlive.com, state House Republican spokesman Jason Gottesman said that “It’s really a shame after all the governor has done to stand in the way of small business and devastate our economy he is once again blocking our attempt to do what needs to be done to help our businesses at this time.”

The “Locals” all voted against the bill

State Senator Daylin Leach voted against the measure when it passed on November 20, as did all four of Lower Merion and Narberth’s state representatives (Pam DeLissio, Mary Jo Daley, Tim Briggs and Greg Vitali).
