In 2020, More Montco Voters Switched From Dems And GOP To Other, But Dems Are Holding Their Own In 2021
In terms of “poaching” voters from other parties and getting them to register on your side, Democrats beat Republicans badly in Montgomery County, last year. Then again, in 2020, Democrats and Republicans alike, suffered big losses to “Other.” Last year, a total of 25,764 voters changed their registration from the two major parties, to either a minority party or no party at all. Only 8,678 Montco voters left “Other” and joined either the Democrats or Republicans.
So far, 2021 is looking better for Democrats and even worse for Republicans.
In 2021, of the 1,094 voters who have become “Other,” only 143 of them were previously Democrats, whereas 951 left the Republicans. Similarly, only 113 Democrats switched to the Republicans, versus 885 Republicans who became Democrats.
