In Off-off Election Year Mail Voting In PA Is Still Popular

by Gerry

As of May 3, State is reporting 741,500 requests for mail ballots

The Pennsylvania Department of State reported on Monday (May 3) that 43,602 voters had applied for “Absentee Ballots” for the May 18 Primary, and 698,280 had applied for “No Excuse Mail Ballots.” Voters still have until 5:00 PM on May 11 to apply for mail ballots.

Pennsylvania Mail Ballots

Democrats still prefer vote-by-mail, a lot more than Republicans.

On Friday (April 30), Morning Call reported that “The demographic preferences aren’t going away, at least not locally. As of Wednesday morning, 30,864 registered Democrats are scheduled to vote by mail in Lehigh and Northampton counties, compared to 9,061 Republicans. While voters registered with third parties or lacking political affiliation don’t typically participate in primaries, 4,016 of them are signed up to vote by mail on referendum questions. Those ballots are already on their way to voters and will soon start to trickle back to the voter registration offices.”
