Gourmet Gluten-Free French Bakery Pop-up Coming To Narberth

by Gerry

What does a classically-trained French pastry chef do when she’s diagnosed with Celiac Disease? That was the question  Lila Colello had to answer for herself, eight years ago.

You can see for yourself what Colello decided to do with the rest of her life if you visit the Pinwheel Provisions store in Narberth.

Starting Wednesday (June 30), and continuing every Wednesday and Saturday until August 7, Colello’s company, Flakely, will be taking over the entire Pinwheel store, which is located on Narberth Avenue, a few doors north of the movie theater.

Flakely’s tagline on their website reads french pastry & artisan breads, reimagined. gluten free.

Before she was a gluten-free French pastry chef, Colello was a not-gluten-free French pastry chef. She trained at the French Culinary Institute in New York and went on to work at Wolfgang Puck, The Ritz and the Food Network.

While all of the baked goods from Flakely are gluten-free, they are not vegan. Says Colello, “butter is best.”

The menu at the Flakely pop-up store in Narberth will change every Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday, June 30, here’s what she’ll be offering.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
