Coleen Kennedy tweeted on Tuesday (September 14), that she and her co-defendant, Gwen Snyder, had reached an agreement with former State Senator, Daylin Leach. As a result of that agreement, Leach has discontinued his defamation lawsuit against Kennedy and Snyder.
In January of 2019, Leach filed a lawsuit against Kennedy and Snyder, as well as Cara Taylor. The case was captioned “Hon. Daylin Leach v. Cara Taylor, et. al.” Leach’s suit against Taylor is continuing, as is a separate defamation suit that he filed against the Philadelphia Inquirer in October of 2019.
In 2020, seeking a fourth term in the Pennsylvania State Senate, Leach was defeated in the Democratic Primary by Amanda Cappelletti.
As part of the agreement, Kennedy removed 12 tweets about Leach, and Snyder removed 10.
In her Tweet on Tuesday, Kennedy linked to a Medium.com article she wrote, in which she states that – Daylin Leach’s legal claims against Cara Taylor and, in a separate case, the Philadelphia Inquirer remain pending. I believe this to be an attack on First Amendment rights of a survivor and a reputable newspaper, and a continued betrayal to whatever progressive accolades that Daylin Leach continues to espouse.
Leach said, about the agreement – I am glad to have these very troubled people out of my life. In the settlement they admitted they lied, pulled down their social media posts, and agreed not to lie about me in the future. This case remains a cautionary tale of how a nobody is really safe from a couple of random people who become obsessed with you.
