Aces Get Ready For Another Title Run

by Gerry

Hoop Dreams, Lower Merion-Style, return to the Bryant Gym in Ardmore on Saturday night, when the Lower Merion Aces host the Parkland High School Trojans. The tip-off is at 7:30.

Last season, Lower Merion won their first PIAA District 1 Championship since the Kobe Bryant Era. In the State Championship tournament, the Aces lost by four points in the semifinals to Archbishop Wood.

Lower Merion will once again be led by 6’9″ Senior, Demetrius Lilley (Committed to Penn State).

Lilley will be teaming up for one more season with Sharp-shooting 6’2″ Junior, Sam Brown (his Dad is former Seventy-Sixers coach, Brett Brown).

5’11” guard, Jaylen Shippen is the third starter who will be back on the hardwood for Lower Merion (they lost Zack Wong and Sam Davidson to graduation). Coach Greg Downer told Cityof BasketballLove that “Shippen is our swiss-army knife, he does a little bit of everything to help us. He is our best defender, a real gritty tough kid, he can score when we need him to, and he is a senior who has started a lot of games and will come into the year with a lot of experience.”

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
