Rep. Pam DeLissio (Bala, Belmont Hills, Penn Valley) Will Face Progressive Primary Challenger

by Gerry

Tarik Khan - Pam DeLissio

Tarik Khan has announced that he is a candidate in the upcoming Democratic Primary (May 17, 2022), for a seat in the Pennsylvania House. Barring any drastic re-mapping as a result of redistricting, he will be running in the 194th District against Pam DeLissio, who was first elected to represent that district in 2010.

On November 7, the Inquirer listed Khan “among several Local progressives [who] are hoping to make major inroads into the city’s delegation to Harrisburg by challenging Democratic incumbents in the May primary election. Many of the activists-turned-candidates have worked with groups like the Working Families Party, Reclaim Philly, and the Democratic Socialists of America.”

DeLissio told the Inquirer “I would think on any given day I am as progressive as many of these folks. I think I represent the district appropriately.”

Khan describes himself as a “frontline nurse.” In June of this year, the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association announced that he was resigning from his position as President of the organization.

@InclusionPhilly is Khan’s Twitter ID. His profile there lists He/him as his pronouns. DeLissio’s Twitter profile @RepDelissio does mention her pronouns.

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]
