That’s not a fake headline or a typo.
On November 7, 1992, the Harriton Rams lost a football game to Bishop Kenrick, 16-0. In their brief write-up, the Inquirer wrote, “Kenrick manhandled the Rams who entered the game averaging 41points over their last three games.”
The Rams clinched the American Conference championship of the Del-Val League by virtue of Garnet Valley’s win over Academy Park.”
So on the day, Harriton suffered their only loss of the season, they “backed into” the league championship.
Two weeks later, 1,000 fans came to Harriton (still probably the biggest crowd to ever see a football game there) and watched the Rams exact revenge in a re-match with Kenrick, while winning the first-ever District 1 2A football championship.
