Lower Merion Basketball Comes Back To Top Garnet Valley
Carl Schaller scored 25 for Garnet Valley, mostly slithering drives.
Demetrius Lilley had 19 points for Lower Merion, and 23 rebounds.
Aces trailed by as many as 10 in the 2nd half.
For the entire first half, Lower Merion was unable to solve a puzzle named Carl Schaller, a 5-9 Junior who scored nine points in the first quarter and six in the second. Lower Merion trailed 34-29 at the halftime break.
In the early part of the third quarter, thanks to a pair of three-pointers by Neel Beniwal, Garnet Valley pulled out to 10 point lead. But then Lower Merion’s 6-9 250 pound sophomore, Demetrius Lilley took control of the game.
The Aces stormed back and led 51-47 by the end of the third quarter. Then they outscored Garnet Valley 18-9 in the fourth.
Schaller led all scorers with 25 points. Lilley had 19 points and 23 rebounds. Lower Merion’s 6-2 Freshmen, Sam Brown (son of Sixers Coach Brett Brown) also had 19 points. He was 5-11 from beyond the three point arc (he didn’t attempt any two-pointers), and shot 4-4 from the foul line.
