Donald Trump saying “Bad things happen in Philadelphia” (September 29, 2020 – Presidential Debate in Cleveland, Ohio) could be the worst insult cast toward the City of Brotherly Love since W.C. Fields made his alleged disdain for his hometown an integral part of his comedic repertoire.
Today, Trump and his protege Mehmet (Dr.) Oz might be having warmer and fuzzier feelings about the state’s largest city/county (but only the 16th largest Pennsylvania county in terms of Republican votes cast yesterday).
Despite Philadelphia’s relatively diminutive stature in terms of the number of its Republican votes, Philly delivered a plurality of approximately 3,430 votes for Oz. Pennsylvania’s other 66 counties gave McCormick a plurality of about 1,707 votes.
So do the math and you can see why at least for the next few hours, Trump might have a change of heart about the city that played such an influential role in determining the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election.
