The Lower Merion Aces Football team will take the three-mile trek from Ardmore to Rosemont on Friday night to take on their cross-town rivals, the Harriton Rams.
In their first game this season, the Aces cruised past Pottstown in a non-league matchup, 35-0. The following week they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker to a very good Conestoga team in their first Central League game.
Lower Merion’s league record now stands at 0-5, having lost to Marple Newtown (29-12), Upper Darby (42-14), Strath Haven (42-7) and Ridley (28-0).
Ordinarily, the Harriton game would provide Lower Merion with a once-a-season opportunity to win a league game. But the Rams have taken a two-year hiatus from the Central League. However, there are still three Central League teams on Harriton’s schedule, Lower Merion being one of them
The Rams opened their season with a 41-20. win over Roxborough (yes, that Roxborough). Then they lost by 41-7 to Springfield, Montco (not to be confused with the much stronger Springfield, Delco of the Central League).
Harriton then lost to Pottstown (20-14) and followed that up with a 41-13 loss to Penncrest (traditionally the third worst team in the Central League).
Then the Rams shut out George School 14-0. But they lost last week against Radnor, also a Central League team (39-13).
