Friends Central Motion To Dismiss Motion By Teachers Who Invited Palestinian Speaker – Partially Denied And Partially Decreed

by Gerry

While Eastern District Court Justice Patrese B. Tucker’s ruling allowed part of the lawsuit filed by fired Friends Central teachers, Ariel Eure and Layla Helwa to proceed. However, the scope of suit will be narrowed.

From the ruling “Plaintiffs’ claims of Title VII and PHRA violations of a hostile work environment, 29 discrimination, and retaliation on the bases of religion, sex or sexual orientation (Counts I and III); and negligent supervision (Count VI) are DISMISSED. Claims of a hostile work environment, discrimination and retaliation on the bases of race or color under Title VII and the PHRA; post-employment retaliation; defamation; and false light (Counts I, II, III, IV, V) remain.”
