Montco Covid Data-Fail

Montco Covid Data-Fail

On Sunday (July 5), I reported that Lower Merion had seen a “mini-spike” in the number of Covid-19 cases reported. Well, it turns out, it was only a “micro-spike.” And (to paraphrase The Leader of the Free World) “it’s not my fault.”

Montco Data Fail

According to revised data released yesterday (July 8) by Montgomery County, Lower Merion only had seven new Covid-19 cases on July 2, not the 11 that had orignally been reported. Even the seven cases, was the most  for Lower Merion since the same number of cases were reported for the period June 6-7.

It appears that Lower Merion’s July 2-3 “micro-spike” might be an outlier. From June 6-7 until July 2-3, the most cases reported were four. And since July 2-3, the most cases reported remains at four.

Vak Akroosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, explained at a press conference yesterday (July 8) that “we have not updated the data on our County Hub Website since July 2. On Monday July 6, our staff realized that a large number of duplicates had been overlooked in the July 2 data. It has taken until today to double check and reconicle all of the numbers.”

No Outbreaks from Restaurants

Arkoosh also reported that “So far we have not seen outbreaks associate here in Montgomery County, with bars and restaurants. She praised the “restaurant owners who have invested a lot in re-opening safely.” But Arkoosh issued a warning that “we have a process in place to quickly shut down restaurants after our inspectors observe the second incidence of non-compliance.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
