Free Shredding Event In Penn Valley Tomorrow

Pam Delissio

From State Rep. Pam DeLissio’s website

State Reps. Mary Jo Daley, D-Montgomery, and Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila., are co-hosting a free shredding event for their constituents on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The rain-or-shine shredding event will run from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. – or whenever the truck is full, whichever comes first – in the parking lot of the Magisterial Courthouse at 925 Montgomery Ave., Narberth [the post office is Narberth, but it’s actually in Penn Valley, Lower Merion].

“With so much time being spent at home during the pandemic, many of us have been cleaning and reorganizing. So, this shredding event is a great opportunity to safely dispose of confidential, unwanted documents with personal information,” DeLissio said.

Said Daley: “Not only is shredding a safe way to get rid of unwanted documents, it’s also environmentally friendly, a fact that is tremendously important to both me and Representative DeLissio. We are thrilled to offer this opportunity for our respective constituents.”

Daley and DeLissio stress that common types of unwanted items for shredding consideration include credit card statements, credit card applications, bank and investment statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance and health records, and retirement or pension fund information.

Newspapers, magazines and journals will not be accepted.

There will be a limit of four bags per household (standard storage/banker boxes or grocery bags). Shredding will be done on site with COVID-19 protocols in place, and all shredded paper will be recycled.

All attendees must wear masks. Attendees will be asked to park their vehicles and carry their own bags or boxes to the shredding bins. If there is a line, attendees will be asked to stand at least six feet apart.

For more information, constituents of DeLissio’s 194th Legislative District should call her office at 215-482-8726 or email RepDeLissio@pahouse.net. Constituents of Daley’s 148th Legislative District should call her office at 610-832-1679 or email RepMaryJoDaley@pahouse.net.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
