Wednesday night’s (March 1) episode of Abbott Elementary took a not-even thinly veiled swipe at charter schools.
Two teachers discuss their fears that a charter school operator could take over Abbott Elementary School. Barbara Howard (played by Sheryl Lee Ralph, who is married to State Senator Vincent Hughes) tells Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) “They take our funding, not to mention the private money from wealthy donors with ulterior motives.”
The Inquirer reported, “Jeanne Allen, founder of the Center for Education Reform and director of The Yass Foundation for Education, was not amused when folks on Twitter linked that line to Yass.”
