Unable to go door-to-door, Amanda Cappelletti took her campaign for the 17th State Senatorial District to Facebook, with a live “Town Hall,” today. She spoke for about 20 minutes and discussed several topics relating to education and the Covid-19 Crisis.
Cappelletti urged listeners to reach out to Senators Toomey and Casey, and Representatives Scanlon and Dean; to encourage them oppose a provision in the Phase III Stimulus package, as proposed by Mitch McConnell; that would require the Secretary of Education to develop a report detailing what speical education obligations school districts would not be required to comply with, during the crisis.
She also spoke in support of a bill proposed by Senator Wayne Langerholc, a Republican from the South Central part of the state. That bill would provide relief to school districts for the duration of the crisis. Cappelleti called attention to what considers to be an important feature of the bill, one that assures that public school employees receive the same compensation that they would have had if the pandemic had not happened.
