Blue Pearl Cafe – New Plant-based Eatery Opens In Ardmore
Blue Pearl Cafe will open its doors to the public on Saturday (August 22). According to its website, the new dining spot “serves a diverse selection of plant based foods, organic smoothies, cold pressed juices and premium cleanses. Blue Pearl offers walk in orders, online orders as well as subscription and delivery services.”
Blue Pearl’s parent company is Juice Dr., an Ardmore- based, fast-growing, online seller of juices, cleanses and “immunity boxes.” The new cafe is located at 44 Rittenhouse Place, in Ardmore.
Blue Pearl is the first ‘brick and mortar” venture for Juice Dr.
Plant-based vs. Vegan?
FJ Ledo, founder and owner of Juice Dr. and Blue Pearl Cafe explained that he prefers to describe the type of foods that he sells through his website, and what’s on the menu at his restaurant; as Plant-based rather Vegan. In Ledo’s mind “Veganaism” is a philosophy that rejects the use of animal-based products as a food source. As he sees it, Plant-based refers specifically to one’s diet alone.
On the other hand, as Ledo points out, Vegans would be perfectly happy with everything that’s on the menu at Blue Pearl Cafe.
