Committee To Hear Plan For 131 Apartments Across From Farmers’ Market In Ardmore

by Gerry

On Wednesday night (November 11), The Building and Planning Committee, which is comprised of all 14 members of the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners, will review a plan that calls for the demolition of five buildings on Coulter Avenue (119, 121, 123, 125, 127) that are across-the-street from the Farmers’ Market and Trader Joe’s at Suburban Square in Ardmore. The plan also calls for the demolition of 75 St. James Place, which was built in 2006 for Urban Outfitters, and is currently occupied by Boyds.

Coulter Ave Sketch

The proposal is on behalf of Kimco, which currently owns Suburban Square. It calls for:

  • Subdivision of 14,113 square feet from 75 St. James Place and
consolidation with the existing five properties to create a 73,811-
    square foot (1.69 acre) property
  • Construction of a new five-story, mixed-use building with a
57,262 square foot footprint containing 19,667 square feet of
ground floor retail space and 131 apartments
  • Construction of one level of underground parking and one level
of at-grade parking behind the retail space containing a total of
213 parking spaces, which is accessed from an existing interior driveway off Coulter Avenue

great Greed!! is there no end! a plague on the developers. it’s enough already, i try to avoid going near or through ardmore already in lancaster. Now this will make Montgomery as bad. Maybe it’s time to move further out from the city.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
