I made these videos with Senator Daylin Leach in December of 2019. At that time I also asked Amanda Cappelletti to do a series of videos with me, but she declined. Cappelletti is challenging Leach in the 17th District State Senate Primary (June 2).
About a month after the Inquirer article, Leach sued a woman who accused him of raping her thirty years ago. The allegations against Leach prompted the State Democratic Caucus to hire the law firm of Eckert Seamans to conduct an independent investigation.
Eckert Seamans released their final report on Leach on September 18, 2019. As part of their conclusion they wrote, “there is no evidence of actionable discrimination or harassment in violation of applicable law or Caucus policies to the extent Caucus policies are interpreted as consistent with federal law. The Caucus may, however, interpret its policies to impose a broader standard than federal law but this is a policy decision that the Caucus must decide for itself.”
Notwithstanding Eckert Seaman’s findings, at least six candidates have announced that they plan to challenge Leach in the Primary on April 28, 2020.
Prior to this year, Leach has never had a primary challenger for any of his races for the House or the Senate.
