Former GOP State Senate Candidate Says He Was Pushed Into Capitol On Jan. 6
Frank Scavo’s lawyer Ernie Preate, told reporters last week that “He was in the building approximate eight minutes. He went in with the mob. His first opportunity to get out with the mob, he did.”
The Times Leader reported on Thursday (March 25) that “The attorney for Frank Scavo (Preate) Thursday said his client was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, but claims he was pushed into the building, finding himself in the middle of hundreds of people.
That’s a different story than the one Scavo first old in the days after the riot, telling media representatives that he was not in the building that day.”
Scavo lives in Old Forge, PA, and was a member of the school board there. He was also the Republican candidate in 2018, in the 22nd District State Senate race. The following year Scavo was the Republican candidate in the 2019 special election for the 114th State House District seat.
According to Citizensvoice.com “During a 15-minute hearing Thursday, Middle District of Pennsylvania Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Karoline Mehalchick allowed Scavo to remain free without bail and set two preliminary hearings — one via Zoom on March 31 at 1 p.m. with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and another April 1 at 9 a.m. before her. The first hearing may eliminate the need for the second, she said.”
Preate is a former Pennsylvania Attorney General. He resigned from the position in 1995 after pleading guilty to Mail Fraud. Part of Preate’s plea deal, for which he served 14 months in prison, was that he was able to keep his law license.
Preate’s daughter is Liz Havey. She is currently the Chair of the Montgomery County Republican Committee (MCRC), and was previously the Chair of the Republican Committee of Lower Merion Narberth (RCLMN).
