Fred Bush, From Odd Man Out To Narberth Borough Council President

Last week, Fred Bush was elected President of Narberth Borough Council. He replaces Aaron Muderick, who stepped down as a member of Council.

In March of 2019, Fred Bush went before the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion Narberth (DCLMN) as one of four candidates seeking the committee’s endorsement for election to Narberth Borough Council. The committee endorsed three candidates, Rob McGreevey, Bob Weisbord and Muna Elshakhs (who has since resigned). As the only candidate not endorsed, Bush decided not to run as an unendorsed candidate, and dropped out of the race.

But in August of that year, another member of Council resigned, and Bush was appointed as a member of Council.  Ironically, he wound up becoming a councilman a few months before Elshaks, who was the only non-incumbent endorsed candidate.

Voted Against Historic District Ordinance

In July, Bush was one of only two Council members (out of seven) who voted against the controversial Narberth’s  Historic District Ordinance.
