Harriton Win Streak, Vs Lower Merion, Stopped At One

Harriton Win Streak, Vs Lower Merion, Stopped At One

Yesterday, at Harriton, the winless Lower Merion Aces faced off against the winless Harriton Rams. Lower Merion emerged from the encounter with a 42-20 victory and a 1-4 record, while Harriton at 0-5 had to be contented with breaking double figures for the first time this season.

This was supposed to be Lower Merion’s year to host the “Township Bragging Rights Bowl,” but this 2020 (that’s like a mantra, right?) so nothing is the way it’s supposed be.

If you want to talk about “the way things are supposed to be,” until a few weeks ago, there wasn’t even supposed to a Lower Merion – Harriton game.  In fact there wasn’t even going to be any football at all for the Lower Merion schools.

Then there was going to be football, but only an abbreviated five-game season. And the Central League had created two 2020-only divisions – with Harriton and Lower Merion in different divisions. And because they were in different divisions,  the 53-year-old on and off rivaly was supposed to be off this year.

Then the next thing you knew, the two teams were scheduled to play each other right before or right after Thanksgiving. And finally, because of the Covid surge, the game was moved up to yesterday.

Click above to watch the whole game. Enjoy outstanding play by play from Eli Feldman, and color commentary by Jason Wexler (this kid really knows football). Also, some nice “crisp” camera work, overseen by Adam Gilbert.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
