Haverford Says Goodbye To John Nagl – He Warned that Trump ‘Is Vigorously Undermining Public Confidence In Our Elections’

by Gerry

Dr. John Nagl completes his tenure as Head of School next week. We're taking a moment to say "thank you" & reflect on his leadership of the School. John Nagl is now officially a former headmaster of the Haverford School. Nagl announced his resignation last August, two weeks after he published a co-authored  letter (with retired Army Colonel, Paul Yingling) to General Mark A. Milley that said, among other things –

We do not live in ordinary times. The president of the United States is actively subverting our electoral system, threatening to remain in office in defiance of our Constitution …

If Nagl and Yingling had left it right there, they would probably be viewed today as totally prescient.

With 20/20 hindsight we can say that Nagl and Yingling at least got the gist of what was going to happen at the sordid end of the Trump Presidency.

But they overshot the mark when they predicted that –

The clock will strike 12:01 PM, January 20, 2021, and Donald Trump will be sitting in the Oval Office. The street protests will inevitably swell outside the White House, and the ranks of Trump’s private army will grow inside its grounds. The speaker of the House will declare the Trump presidency at an end, and direct the Secret Service and Federal Marshals to remove Trump from the premises. These agents will realize that they are outmanned and outgunned by Trump’s private army, and the moment of decision will arrive.

Two weeks after publishing “the letter,” Nagl announced his resignation.

“The letter” drew a firestorm of protest, and to a lesser extent, some support, from the Haverford Community. Within five days of publishing the letter on Defenseone.com, Nagl had penned an apology for it to the Haverford Community. And a little more than a week after that, he announced his resignation.

I am dismayed. No, I am furious. How many dense Republicans are there out here where I live? Our best private schools which should be an example of free speech, are often not. Shame on those Haverford parents who can afford an excellent education for their children and still do not understand the meaning of democracy..

Well said.. Hopefully the brainwashed parents’ money is funding an education that teaches their kids how to sift through all the bullshit and lies that thee parents fell for.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]
