On Monday (June 21), Philadelphia City Council member, Helen Gym tweeted about her participation in a march that started at Gompers School in Wynnefield, and ended up at Merion Elementary School.
Gym got a little confused, and in two different tweets she referred to the final destination of the march (a healthy 3.9 miles from the start) as “Lower Elementary.”
The purpose of the march was to call attention to the funding disparities between the Lower Merion schools and the Philadelphia School District and to encourage the legislature to pass Governor Tom Wolf’s budget.
We’re here at Lower Merion Elementary with parents, students, faith leaders from Philly and Lower Merion.

Together we demand the state legislature pass @GovernorTomWolf’s budget — to begin undoing the inequitable funding that shortchanges low-income children across PA. pic.twitter.com/mj3gC0Vtqi
