In July of 1994, Kobe Bryant was looking toward the start of his Junior Year at Lower Merion High School. He had just been invited to participate in the prestigious Convese ABCD Camp, and he was being touted as one of the top incoming Junior Class hoop stars in the country.Β
Kobe’s name was getting mentioned every few days by the Inquirer or the Daily News, but only in the form of little snippets about his contributions to the Norristown Ford Team in the Narberth Boys’ Summer League.Β
But the Bryant sibling featured by the Inquirer was Sister Shaya.
But by the end of that July, Kobe had evened the score with Shaya. An Inquirer photographer caught up with him at the Narberth Playground on a night he “torched the nets for 35 points to power Norristown Ford to a 63-52 victory.”
