Inquirer Says Val Arkoosh Will Run For Senate

Inquirer Says Val Arkoosh Will Run For U.S. Senate

Without citing any sources, the Inquirer “reported” today that “Pennsylvania’s high-stakes U.S. Senate race is expected to get a new contender in the coming weeks, when Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh joins a contest that both parties see as vital to control of the chamber.”

Arkoosh is currently the Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. She was first elected as a commissioner in 2015. In that year’s primary Arkoosh and Josh Shapiro ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary and easily won first and second place in the general election.

In 2019, Arkoosh and Ken Lawrence (he was appointed commissioner after Shapiro resigned after being elected Pennsylvania Attorney General) faced token opposition in the Democratic Primary, and won the general election by an even wider margin than in 2015.

In a Failed 2014 Congressional Campaign Arkoosh Spent $216.76 per vote.

Arkoosh’s first foray into electoral politics was, to put it politely, a disaster.  She ran in a four-way field in the 13th District Democratic Primary against, former congresswoman, Marjorie Margolis, then State Senator Daylin Leach, and then State Representative Brendan Boyle. Boyle won.

According to the Federal Election Commission, Arkoosh spent $2,034,534.48 on a campaign that netted her 9,386 votes – good enough for fourth place.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
