Maskless GOP Lawmakers In Harrisburg – “We Are Not Afraid”
For my own safety I tend to avoid the Capitol building. Even though the governor’s order requires following public health guidelines — MANY lawmakers simply ignore them. Today I masked up, kept my distance and made an exception. Here’s one question I asked lawmakers. Story soon. pic.twitter.com/m72jzLaPag

On Tuesday (November 10), Brett Sholtis on WITF.org reported that a “group of Republicans was holding a press conference to talk about plans for a legislative-led audit of Pennsylvania’s election results. The effort comes days after an evidence-free lawsuit against the commonwealth from President Donald Trump, who has made baseless claims about fraud in Pennsylvania and other states where he lost.”
Observing that more than half of the 19 GOP legislators assembled in the Capitol Building were not wearing masks, Sholtis said to them, “people from around the state are going to be watching this today, and they are going to be looking to you for leadership on many fronts. Corona Virus cases have surged through the roof, nationwide and in Pennsylvania, with many of the Republican rural counties leading the surge. What message are you sending your constituents when you gather without masks, not socially distanced, as you have been throughout this morning and many mornings. What message are you sending your own constituents right now about their own mask wearing and social distancing?”
Representative Russ Diamond responded, and his response was echoed by several of other legislators present, “We are not afraid,” he said.
