Mastriano Claims He Outperformed Every Republican Gubernatorial Candidate In The Past 60 Years

by Gerry

Doug Tweet Best GOP in 60 Years

Having been edged by Josh Shapiro by a mere 787,564 votes, Doug Mastriano claimed in a Tweet on Wednesday (November 23), that he had outperformed every Republican candidate in the past 60 years.

Included among the Republican Gubernatorial candidates over that period of time who Mastriano boasts of having outperformed are:

  • Bill Scranton 1962
  • Ray Shafer 1966
  • Dick Thornburgh 1978
  • Tom Ridge 1994
  • Tom Corbett 2010

Mastriano’s 2,233,350 votes place him in a league of his own compared to all other gubernatorial  Republicans in the entire history of Pennsylvania.

The 2,172,763 votes Jim Corbett received in 2010 put him in second position among all Republican candidates. The other aforementioned Republican candidates underperformed Mastriano by at least 600,000 votes.

The only consolation that Scranton, Shafer, Thornburgh, Ridge and Corbett might have been able to take from their lackluster performances is that they were able to beat their Democrat opponents and serve as Governor of Pennsylvania

It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
