MLK At Villanova – 1965 – ‘If Democracy Is To Live, Segregation Must Die.’
As we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his words on campus in 1965 hold true: “Love is understanding, creative good will for all. It is a demanding love, a love that demands justice.” pic.twitter.com/nDa0ck1sIi

Martin Luther King spoke at the Villanova Field House on January 20, 1965. As The Villanovan reported on February 10 of that year (in an article on page three, next to a much larger story about an upcoming jazz festival), “Dr. Martin Luther King [who was] interrupting his fight to register voters in Selma, Alabama to address the Villanova Forum, stated last January 20:
‘The Negro has come a long, long way in evaluating himself, but we still have a long, long way to go before the problem (of integration) is solved.’ “
