Today, 113 of Montgomery County’s residents are patients in hospitals, diagnosed with Covid-19. That number has barely fluctuated since September 6, when the County reported that it had121 residents hospitalized with Covid. Since then, that number reached a high of 129 patients on September 14, and a low of 97 patients on October 3. As recently as July 4, the number of county residents hospitalized with Covid was only 11.
At the municipal level, public data only shows the total number of cases, not hospitalizations. However, the rise and fall in the number of cases track closely to the hospitalizations that the county reports.
In Lower Merion, for the weeks ending June 17 and June 24, there were only 3.41 cases/100 (probably two cases) reported. For the week ending September 16, the number of Lower Merion residents testing positive for Covid had spiked to 131.1/100,000. For the week ending October 28, the number cases in Lower Merion had dropped to 74.91/100,000.
