Last Thursday (9/11) Lower Merion School District presented a tentative sketch of the playing fields plan for the anticipated new middle school. The new school will be built at 1860 Montgomery Ave., formerly the home of the Islamic Foundation. The plan that the school district presented called for having school busses cutting through Stone Ridge Lane to the proposed playing fields. That block has been a dead end street since the houses were first built there in 1957. Deborah Robbins lives in the house adjacent to where the school district is suggesting a “busses only” road that would lead to a driveway of the athletic fields.
Andy Gavrin is the Ward 6 Commissioner. The new school and its proposed playing fields are located in his ward. Gavrin lead the opposition to current proposal which was unanmimously rejected by entire board.
