No Endorsement For Philly D.A. Krasner
On Thursday (March 26) BroadandLiberty.com reported that the Philadelphia Democratic Committee would not be endorsing District Attorney Lawrence (Larry) Krasner in the upcoming primary. Krasner is facing opposition from Carlos Vega.
Later on March 26, KYW confirmed what BroadandLiberty.com had reported earlier, and noted that “The only citywide election in the last 45 years when the committee didn’t endorse the incumbent was the last sheriff’s race when incumbent Jewell Williams was the target of multiple sexual harassment lawsuits. Committee chairman Bob Brady said an open primary was preferable to risking the party’s endorsed judicial candidates. Individual ward leaders may promote Krasner, but he said many would likely back his opponent, Carlos Vega — a former prosecutor who Krasner fired his first week in office.
The lack of party support underscores how controversial Krasner has been. He ran as a reformer four years ago and has fulfilled his promise to free the wrongfully convicted, reduce bail requests and stop seeking the death penalty. But critics say he has dropped or lost too many cases and failed to consider victims in his quest for decarceration.”

Krasner won the Democratic Primary in 2017 by getting 38% of the votes (about 58,000 votes).
Will Krasner get Soros Money again?
The Inquirer wrote on May 5, 2017, that “Billionaire George Soros, with a check for $1.45 million last week, upended the money race in the Democratic primary campaign for district attorney in Philadelphia.”
It is not known if, and/or to what extent Krasner will have Soros’ support in his bid for re-election. What is known, however, is that Krasner will not have the benefit of running in a crowded field as he did in 2017, when he was among seven candidates competing in the Primary.
