Phil Gosselin – Born in Bryn Mawr, Went to Malvern – Homers Twice for Phils Today
On October 3, 1988, a baby boy named Phil Gosselin was born in Bryn Mawr. That baby boy hit two homeruns for the Phillies this afternoon, as the Phightins beat the Miami Marlins 7-1. Gosselin, who didn’t play yesterday, got a single in his other plate appearance today. So right now he’s batting 1.000.
His First “Brush” with the Phanatic at a Very, Very Early Age.
In February of 2020, during Spring Training in Clearwater, Gosselin told Inquirer Reporter Bob Brookover this story about his first encounter with the Phillie Phanatic, which happened while Gosselin was still in utero.
When my mom was pregnant with me, the Phanatic came over and rubbed her belly,” Gosselin said. “I guess that’s a real early encounter. I don’t have any memories, but it’s something that happened. I guess it was a little good luck. My mom jokes about it to this day.
Gosselin also played basketball for Malvern. And he was jock who cracked open a book occassionally, posting a 4.0 GPA and scoring 1400 on the SATs.
