Report: Josh Shapiro Has Received $250,000 from Johnny Doc’s IBEW Local 98

by Gerry

BroadandLiberty.com, a conservative-leaning Philadelphia-based website, released a report on Thursday (December 2), that details much and how many Pennsylvania politicians (mostly Democrat, but certainly not exclusively) have received in campaign contributions from IBEW Local 98 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). IBEW-98 until just recently, was led by John (Johnny Doc) Dougherty, who was convicted last month by a federal jury of conspiracy and wire fraud.

According to Broad + Liberty, since 2005, Shapiro was the beneficiary of $250,000 in campaign contributions from IBEW Local 98.

The report noted that the $250,000 that Shapiro received from Dougherty’s union, was far exceeded by the $1.5 million that Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Kevin Dougherty received from Local 98. Kevin Dougherty is John Dougherty brother.

Broad + Liberty wrote – Gov. Tom Wolf has received more than $1.2 million from Johnny Doc’s union. Notably, Wolf took $300,000 after Johnny Doc was indicted by the Justice Department in January 2019. If Johnny Doc expected a $70K-per-year council member to do his bidding, what did he expect from a sitting governor in exchange for $1.2 million?

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]
