On Tuesday, Democrat Daniel McCaffery and Republican Megan McCarthy King won seats on the Pennsylvania Superior Court.
At this moment, McCaffery leads all candidates in this race with 1,250,478 votes. King is just behind him with 1,238,236. Not far behind her is Democrat Amanda Green-Hawloms with 1,212,515 votes. Republican Crystylee Peck is in last place, but even she is not that far behind the first place McCaffery. So far, she has received 1,149,377 votes.
Political commentator Terry Madonna told Law.com that it was “fairly rare to see where it gets split like that, and so close.
“That’s a big surprise.” Madonna said ”I thought that Dems would win the statewide Superior Court election likely because of what we knew was going to happen in the Philadelphia suburbs, where the Democrats, for more than a decade, have been making inroads.”
Key: Light blue Democratic hold, dark blue Democratic pickup, pink Republican hold, Red Republican Pickup
In addition to their historic win in Delaware County, Democrats also flipped control of county governments in Bucks, Chester, Lehigh and Monroe Counties.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the state, Washington, Armstrong, Greene and Westmoreland Counties flipped from Blue to Red.
