On March 11, Andrew Seidman in the Inquirer reported that Congresswomen Madeleine Dean and Mary Gay Scanlon had endorsed East Norriton Supervisor Amanda Cappaletti.

Seidman wrote, “It’s unusual for sitting members of Congress to actively campaign against an incumbent lawmaker of the same party. The development underscores the controversy surrounding Leach, who has faced allegations of inappropriate behavior that brought Pennsylvania one of its first #MeToo moments. Both Dean and Scanlon’s congressional districts partially overlap the 17th State Senatorial  District, where Leach is seeking re-election to his fourth term in the State Senate.

On Thursday (April 30), Jonathan Tamari and Julia Terruso, also in the Inquirer, reported that Dean and Scanlon planned to campaign on May 1 for Presumed Democratic Presidential Candidate,  Joe Biden.

Dean and Scanlon were planning to do the campaign event along with fellow Pennsylvania Freshman Democrats, Chrissy Houlihan and Susan Wild. Dean, Scanlon, Houlihan and Wild refer to themselves as “The Fab Four.”

Tamari and Terruso wrote that “As they prepared to campaign for Joe Biden on Friday, Pennsylvania’s four Democratic congresswomen had little to say about the sexual-assault accusation he now faces.

“When there are allegations of misconduct of any kind, there must be responsible investigation, and there must be space for all claims to be heard,” said the entirety of a joint statement Thursday from Reps. Madeleine Dean, Chrissy Houlahan, Mary Gay Scanlon, and Susan Wild. They declined interview requests.”

The junior congressional women are not as smart as they think they are. They are attempting to derail a candidate who is well known un favor of a woman whose adverts state she is “endorsed by the Democratic Party.” Not so, it was only Delaware County Dems. What other untruths is Amanda guilty of?

I find this disappointing. #MeToo has become weaponized as a political tool and dishonors the brave women how have come forward after actual instances of abuse and assault. To see the political careers of individuals such as Leach or Franken derailed is disturbing. These are valuable public servants who could be aiding all citizens.

This is embarrassing hypocrisy. I am a feminist. I like to see qualified women win. But, when we have an Uber-qualified State Senator like Daylin Leach,, represents his constituents in a way we can be proud of, I see no reason to get rid of him because he is not a woman. Ignoring the fact that the allegations against him were proven false makes me embarrassed for those trusting to discredit him!

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]
