The Inquirer reported this afternoon that “Jamila Winder, an elected official in East Norriton Township and an executive for an online learning platform, was appointed Monday to the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.”

Kevin Tierney, publisher of More than the Curve, a website that covers Conshocken, Lafayette Hill, Plymouth Meeting and West Conshohocken wrote on Saturday (January 28) – “Two sources tell MoreThanTheCurve.com that Jamila Winder (D), chair of the East Norriton Township Board of Supervisors and a former member of the Norristown Area School District Board, is the favorite to be appointed to fill the open seat on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners due to the resignation of Dr. Val Arkoosh.”
Tim Briggs Gets Tapped For The Other Commissioner’s Seat

The Inquirer also reported that “Democratic party leaders are backing state Rep. Tim Briggs for another spot on the three-member board, [Jason] Salus [Montco Democratic Chair] said. He will run this year to succeed Commissioner Ken Lawrence, who has said he won’t seek reelection.”
Briggs currently represents the 149th district in the Pennsylvania State House. Although the district’s boundaries have changed twice since Briggs was first elected in 2008, it has included at least part of Lower Merion Township for more than 40 years.
