The Pope Spoke In Wynnewood, Five Years Ago Today
On the Sunday morning of September 27, 2015, Pope Francis addressed a group of Bishops at St. Charles Seminary in Wynnewood. That was the first event of Day 2 of the Pope’s two-day whirlwind visit to Philadelphia.
His next stop, after saying goodbye to Wynnewood, was Curran-Fromhold Prison, in Holmesburg, where he met with prisoners and their families.
Then he motorcaded from Holmesburg to Center City and gave a Papal Mass at Eakins Oval.
And by 7:00 PM that night, the Pope was at Philadelphia Airport where he “caught” his flight back to Rome.
On Saturday, September 26, Main Liners got their first glimpse of Pope Francis, when he arrived at St. Charles at around 12:45 PM. He greeted Seminarians and “freshened up” before heading back downtown to speak at Independence Hall.
That night, Francis came back to Wynnewood for a well-earned, good night’s sleep.
