Upper Darby To Outsource Trash Pick-up As All Sanitation Workers are Quarantined
Delco Times reported on Saturday (August 8) that “On Thursday, Upper Darby officials decided to quarantine 60 to 70 of its sanitation and Public Works employees after several workers tested positive for the virus. At that point, township administration in conjunction with TWU representatives and township employees chose to suspend all trash and recycling pick-up until Monday, Aug. 21.
They then reversed course on that action, through the use of outside help so that starting Monday, Aug. 10, township residents will receive weekly trash collection. In the summer, Upper Darby normally has twice-a-week collection. However, due to this situation, trash pick-up will be once a week.”
