Will The Republican School Board Candidates Beat The Spread?

by Gerry

GOP Candidates

The Republicans running for the Lower Merion School Board – Talia Nissim, Deena Pack, Omer Dekel and Jacob Rudolph (who is trying to convince everybody he’s actually an Independent, even though if you want to vote for him, it will be as a Republican) – are not delusional. None of them has ever expected to win. Their goal all along has been to call attention to various issues pertaining to the all-Democratic School Board (since 2013). To a large extent, they have accomplished that goal. We will find out on Election Day if anyone actually listened to them.

Keep An Eye On The All-Important Race For Jury Commissioner.

In 2021, Democratic school board candidates in Lower Merion received 76.59% of the votes compared to their Republican opponents’ 24.42%.

The Democratic school board candidates ran slightly behind their candidate for Montgomery County Jury Commissioner, who took 78.32% of the votes in Lower Merion.

The Democratic slate of school board candidates in Lower Merion gave their Republican opponents an even worse ass-whipping in 2023, when they won 78.49% of the vote, and yet they still ran behind their candidate for prothonotary, who collected 79.06% of the vote.

In 2021, the Democratic School Board candidates ran 1.73 behind their candidate for jury commissioner. Two years later, they ran only .57% behind their prothonotary candidate. Based on how well they run versus Woods, and to some extent, if they can keep the Democratic School Board Slate from getting too far north of 70%,  will tell us how much, if any, impact the Republicans were really able to make th

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
