Wolk Filing Seeks To Cut Off School Superintendent’s Pension

by Gerry May 1, 2021

Wolk Motion to Stop Copeland Pension

Click here to read the full filing.

Gladwyne Attorney Arthur Wolk has filed a motion in the Court of Common Pleas of Montgomery County that seeks to prevent Lower Merion School District Robert Copeland from receiving his pension or any other retirement benefits.

On April 12, Copeland announced at a School Board meeting that he planned to retire this fall. He has served as Superintendent of the Lower Merion School District for six years.

It has been reported that Copeland’s pension benefit could be more than $200,000 a year.

In August of 2016, Judge Smyth of the Montgomery County Court of Common Please found that the Lower Merion School District had engaged in Legerdemain with respect to taxing the residents of Lower Merion and Narberth.

Wolk’s latest filing alleges criminal behavior by not only the superintendent, but also by the district’s business manager, administrators and its lawyers. And as such, citing Pennsylvania ACT 140, he is calling for the court to “dispossess” all of them of their pensions.
