Lower Merion/Narberth State Reps Take Minority (Democratic) Chair Positions
Greg Vitali, Environmental Resources and Energy Committee
Vitali lives in Haverford Township and represents the 166th District, most of which is in Haverford and Radnor Townships. In Lower Merion he represents all of Wards 4 and 8 (Ardmore) and the 3rd precinct of Ward 10 (Haverford/Bryn Mawr).
He first won the job of Minority Chair of the Environmental Committee in 2013. In 2017, much to his dismay, Vitali was “relieved” of that position, but he won it back in 2019, and retains it again for this legislative session.
Vitali was first elected to represent the 166th District in 1992.
Pam DeLissio, Children and Youth Committee
DeLissio lives and Roxborough and represents the 194th District. Most of her district is in Northwest Philadelphia’s 38th and 21st Wards, but she does represent Lower Merion Wards 3 (Belmont Hills/Penn Valley/Bala Cywnwyd), 9 (Bala Cynwyd) and the third precinct of Ward 13 (Bala Cynwyd).
This is the first time she has been named as a minority chair of a committee.
DeLissio was first elected to represent the 194th District in 2010.
Tim Briggs, Judiciary Committee
Briggs lives in King of Prussia and represents the 149th District. This district includes Lower Merion Wards 5 (Wynnewood), 6 (Villanova), 7 (Wynnewood), 10 (Haverford/Bryn Mawr -except for the 3rd precinct), 11 (Haverford/Gladwyne) and 14 (Penn Wynne). The district also contains Bridgeport, Upper Merion, West Conshohocken, and parts of West Norriton.
He was first named Minority Chair of the Judiciary Committtee in 2019.
Briggs was fist elected to represent the 149th District in 2008.
Mary Jo Daley, Tourism and Recreational Development Committee
Daley lives in Narberth and represents the 148th District. This district includes all of Narberth and Lower Merion Wards 1 (Penn Valley, 2 (Penn Valley/Gladwyne), 12 (Merion) and the first and second precincts of the 13th Ward (Bala Cynwyd).
Ambler, Conshocken, parts of Plymouth Township and parts of Whitpain are also within the 148th District.
This is the first time Daley has been named as a minority chair of a committee.
She was first elected to represent the 148th District in 2012.
In 1991 Daley (then known as Mary Jo Pauxtis), was elected to Narberth Borough Council, breaking up a decades-old monopoly of Republican control of that body. By 2003, Democrats had won control of Borough Council, and Daley became President of Narberth Borough Council.
