There wasn’t much “Bar” but there was plenty of “Mitzvah” for Alex Kohn’s “Coming-of-Age Celebration” at Beth Hillel Synagogue, this past February.
Because of Covid, family and friends had to settle for joining the Kohns big event, via Zoom. But that didn’t stop Alex from raising $1,800 for his favorite charity, Eldernet of Lower Merion and Narberth.
According to ABC-6:
Alex came up with the idea to sell cutouts to put in the seats.
And many were on board for the idea (literally!).
There was a great turnout, including pets and even the president!
“I could not believe all the generosity people were giving me on my Bar Mitzvah,” Alex said. “It was awesome to see all my friends and family in the crowd.”
