Today, according to Montgomery County’s Covid-19 Data Hub, there are currently 97 county residents hospitalized with Covid. This is the first time since August 25 when the number of hospitalizations for Covid is below 100.
As recently as July 6, the county only had ten residents hospitalized for Covid. By September 3, the number had spiked to 136.

At the municipal level, the county only tracks positive covid cases, not hospitalizations. However, the trajectory for Lower Merion’s positive cases was in line with the county’s increase in hospitalizations. For the week ending June 24, Lower Merion had 3.41 Covid cases per 100,000 population. Cases jumped to 131.1 per 100,000, for the week ending September 16. The following week the number of cases in Lower Merion had dropped to 100.45 per 100,000.
