The Cheltenham Panthers will put their gaudy 27-0 record on the line Tuesday night, when they face the higher-seeded Lower Merion Aces in the PIAA District 1 Class 6A (the highest) semi-final, at the Bryant Gym in Ardmore
Tip-off is at 7:00. Get there early. This game will draw a crowd.
Based on the PIAA’s somewhat convoluted system, even though Lower Merion lost three regular games during the regular season, they were still ranked second (behind Methacton) among District 1 6A teams. Cheltenham was ranked third.
Aces Breezed Past Abington in Friday Night’s Quarter Final
On Friday night (February 25), Lower Merion put Abington’s post-season Cinderalla run to rest. The Ghosts came into the tournament as a 23-seed. But in the first round they knocked off Conestoga, a team that had beaten Lower Merion earlier in the seaon. Abington followed that win by shocking 7th-seeded West Chester East. But on Friday night, the only thing that was shocking was how effortlessly Lower Merion was able to run up the score.
