The Radnor Raptors boys basketball team will take their gaudy 16-0 Central League record (23-0, overall) to the Harriton Gym in Rosemont tonight, where they will face the Lower Merion Aces (13-3, 20-3) for the league championship. Although they are defending the title, the Aces are the decided underdogs tonight.
Their previous matchup at Lower Merion on January 24 was a nailbiter – for the first. half. After two-quarters of play, the Raptors could only build a one-point lead. But in the third period, Radnor outscored Lower Merion 21-5 en route to a 64-41 Raptors win.
Both teams feature future Ivy Leaguers. Princeton-bound Jackson Hicke is Radnor’s top scorer, while Penn-commit Sam Brown leads the Lower Merion.
Regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game, both teams will compete next week in the PIAA District 1 playoff. Lower Merion is the second seed in Class 6A, and Radnor is the first seed in Class 5A.
