Republican Senatorial Candidate Dave McCormick has portrayed incumbent Democrat Bob Casey as aligned with 12th District Congresswoman Summer Lee.
In aligning herself with antisemites, Summer Lee is failing to demonstrate moral leadership for her constituents — especially Pittsburgh’s Jewish community.

It’s past time for Bob Casey to revoke his endorsement of her. https://t.co/xCzAcyyUgC
In the biggest surprise of all, on Tuesday, Erin McClelland won the Democratic Primary for State Treasurer, defeating Ryan Bizzarro, who had been endorsed by the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee. She will face incumbent Republican Stacy Garrity, who was unopposed in the primary.
Republicans will no doubt depict McClelland as Anti-Israel, for remarks she made in February that were critical of the $20 million worth of Israel Bonds that Garrity purchased on behalf of the state, a few days after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.
In February, Spotlight reported that Erin McClelland, a former project manager for the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, said it’s important to take the reality of the war into account, citing Moody Investors Service’s decision to downgrade Israel’s credit rating — which measures investment risk.
“Fiscal policy, monetary policy, investment policy is incredibly complicated and dynamic, and we need thoughtful honest brokers doing this,” McClelland told Spotlight PA in an interview. “And if you’re going to do it for a performance, because it’s politically expedient and you need that to get reelected because it just so happens to be populist, I don’t buy into that.”
