After dropping their first two Central League games to Garnet Valley and Conestoga, the Lower Merion Aces Boys Varsity Basketball team seemed far from their usual status as perennial league championship contenders. A run for the District One Title looked even less likely.
Carson Kasmer leads Lower Merion in scoring, averaging more than 20 points per game.
But what a difference a month makes. In Thursday night’s 74-49 rout against Strath Haven, kids accustomed to sitting on coach Gregg Downers bench saw more than enough court timeto get sweaty.
The win extended Lower Merion’s win streak to seven, bringing their overall record to 9-3. In league competition, they are 5-2 trailing Garnet Valley and Conestoga at 6-1 and Penncrest at 7-0.
The Aces will be able to cut Penncrest’s lead when they play them at 6:00 tomorrow night at Penncrest.
