Ken Brownstein and Shelby Sparrow will compete in the 14th Ward Democratic Primary this Tuesday (May 20). Brownstein wants you to know that Sparrow didn’t register as a Democrat until five months ago. Before that, she had been registered as Non-Partisan – The horror!
Brownstein is also not what you would call a lifetime member of the party of Jefferson, Jackson, Roosevelt, Kennedy, et. al.
Voting records reveal that from 2006 through 2016, he participated in Republican primaries. He didn’t vote in a Democratic primary until 2022.
Then there’s this X account. The thumbnail image shows that this Ken Brownstein went to Penn State, the same college the Ken Brownstein who is running for commissioner attended.
Someone with an Instagram account called birds_eyeviewpolitics must have had access to that Ken Brownstein’s account before he locked it up, and they posted what appear to be tweets by someone named Ken Brownstein. If the Ken Brownstein who posted these Tweets and the Ken Brownstein who is running for Commissioner are the same, it’s easy to see why Ken Brownstein made his X account private.
The Ken Brownstein, who is running for Commissioner, did not respond to an inquiry asking if the Tweets shown above were his.
